The Egg Bag of Nature

baskets in the Museum of Natural Artefacts

This free service offers users resources on every aspect of environmental education and sustainable living. We hold many thousands of books, videos, posters, magazines, toys, CDs, tapes and practical equipment, from pond dipping nets to microscopes.

This service is available to all in the Forth Valley area (Clackmannanshire, Falkirk and Stirling areas) - individuals, families, teachers, schools, universities, businesses, councils and community groups.

What Topics are Covered

The resources are organised by topic. The list includes all the current categories. It's worth contacting us if you need information on a subject not mentioned on the list as it may well be covered within another heading.

You can get a bibliography online of those topics listed in green by clicking on the topic name, but a free bibliography on any of the topics is available from FEL. Contact Us.

Resources for Teachers

Some of our resources are specifically designed with teachers in mind, although they are available to everyone on loan. These include:

  • Curriculum packs, including lesson plans and worksheets
  • Information to help you improve your school grounds
  • Sheet music, books and tapes for assemblies with an environmental theme
  • Art and craft activities for practical projects
  • Bags of Nature - A typical bag contains a story book, non-fiction book, information and activity sheets, a toy or finger puppet, a poster or a puzzle. Bags of Nature are available on loan or for sale. Titles so far include:
    • Growing things
    • Butterfly
    • Egg

    • Frog
    • Ladybird
    • Bee

Age-Related Resource Trunks

These are treasure chests of books, games and equipment, each covering an environmental theme or specific age group. Click on the name of the trunk you're interested in to see a list of contents:

Habitat Hampers

Packed with cross-curricular resources, natural objects, posters, books and photcopiable worksheets, they are targeted at Primary 4 -7. Each hamper comes with an introduction for staff, a workshop in the classroom and a site vist. Each hamper focuses on a discrete habitat and resource.
