GREEN OFFICE

Many simple and cost effective measures can be taken to minimise waste and pollution within the business sector. FEL recently made new links with the business sector to help make businesses greener.

Stirling University Innovation Park

In November 2004, FEL carried out a 'Green Audit' at Stirling University Innovation Park and made some initial recommendations about improving the environmental performance in the Park. This was followed in January 2005 by a workshop for tenant businesses at the Park, where 20% of businesses came along to discover how they could start off the process of greening their office. A third event followed in February to celebrate Fair Trade Fortnight. Fair Trade products were on sale and library resources were made available for loan and reference.

Breakdown Services

If your company or organisation has its own vehicles, consider signing up to the Environmental Transport Association for your breakdown cover. This organisation is committed to promoting greener transport solutions.
Energy

Switching to a green tariff for electricity is a really good way to make a difference. Some suppliers also link a donation to an environmental charity to your bill, so you can make a double impact! The Green Electricity website www.greenelectricity.org lists all UK providers of green electricity, allowing you to compare tariffs and services at a glance.

Telephone and Internet

The Phone Co-op www.thephone.coop says it is the UK's only telecommunications provider run as a co-operative. They will also give a donation to a range of environmental charities when you pay your bill.

Local Food Initiatives
Food - growing it, transporting it, selling it and eating it. It has a huge impact on the environment, our health and wellbeing, and the local economy. Offices are often a place where our good intentions go out of the window in the face of convenience. Whether you are in the food business or just looking for a better lunch break, click here to find out what's on the menu at Forth Valley Food Links.
Events

Go to our events diary to find out about the celebration and action days going on this year. How about entering an office team in a fundraising event, or using a celebration day to publicise your organisation's sustainability successes?
