An initiative aiming to involve individuals and families in setting up sustainable home compost systems. This will lessen the burden on the Polmaise Recycling Centre near Stirling whilst increasing biodiversity and encouraging local participation.

Useful compost links

It is estimated that almost three billion nappies are thrown away each year in the UK. Most of these – 90% - go to landfill . There is an alternative. Real nappies. Not only are they a much more environmentally friendly option, they can also save parents hundreds of pounds.

Forth Environment Link have recently appointed Claire Jack as project officer to work on the Forth Valley Real Nappy Network project. She has a supply of sample nappy packs with the latest designs which you can borrow and try in the comfort of your own home before making a final decision on whether to go real.

Forth Environment Link was one of the first organisations to host a pilot project. There are now 168 churches in Scotland which have completed Module 1 - the Church Check-Up and are now actively engaged in environmental projects. 56 have gone on to receive Eco-Congregation Awards in recognition of their work.

The Forth Environment Link Resource Library holds all the titles on the Eco-Congregation recommended reading list, plus many other books and videos etc. on environmental themes which could be used by churches interested in the programme.
